ZITRONE

Performance, 2011

ZITRONE is a stereoscopic film sculpture. In the first phase of the performance, I arrange the objects in two identical boxes. The discriminate properties of core and shell, impermanence and stasis, (manifest here as a tub of lemon ice cream) are brought into a dependent relationship by way of two cameras, although they are separate. In the second phase, the set-up and its metamorphosis are viewed live on two screens in another location. The unstable core appears to transform the shape of its former shell. This surreal synchronization in the third dimension leaves behind an unexpected sense of mortality.
