Stereoscopic Video, 2012

Two videos, one for the left and right eye respectively, run in sync. Combined, they produce a three-dimensional image. The videos show me as a sculptor, whittling a stone. I chisel it down half of the stone, which is filmed for the left eye. The second video, in which I continue to chip away at the stone until it is no longer there, is filmed for the right eye. In STEINZEIT, I play the video for the left eye forwards and the video for the right eye in reverse. The stone thus increases in three-dimensionality over time. As the videos draw to a close, the stone half is rendered completely in 3D.
